A variety of sources of income may require special consideration from a tax perspective (e.g. staking income from running proof of stake nodes, mining income, token rewards, coin-lending and tokens received from hard forks or airdrops). These sources of income/gains can often have unintended tax consequences. For example, if income from staking/rewards is treated as services income the activities giving rise to the income may constitute a trade or business.
